September 2010 To increase communication between the PTA and home we will be sending out a one page monthly newsletter with a calendar attached containing all PTA events. We will send home flyers to advertise our events, but in an effort to save money and help the environment we will not send out paper reminders. You can sign up for electronc reminders through our yahoo reminders group on our website. Our PTA offers many great activities & ways you can get involved with the school throughout the year. This includes our annual Halloween Spooktacular, Holiday Shoppe, Best Man Dance, Mothe/Son bowling event, Book fairs, volunteering on field day and many others. We are also bringing back our directory and family portraits. As we begin the new school year we remain sensitive to the economic times we continue to face and the PTA is once again proposing cuts in our upcoming budget. While our PTA is here to provide information and resources that strengthen the connections between children, parents, our school, and the community, fundraising has been our way to provide our children with things that enrich their education. For example: agenda books each child in grades 2-6 will bring home, the numerous educational assemblies, and student magazines (a full list of what the PTA has gifted to the school is listed. So back by popular demand, we bring you Kid Stuff next week. While KidStuff Coupons do raise money for our school we are bringing it in this year as a service. Our big fundraisers this year will be the Fall Catalog sale and a Raffle in the winter. We will have other events and sales throughout the year to support our programs. Even though you may feel at times that we are on a continuous loop of fundraising it is all optional and the PTA is going to do our best to use our resources wisely and keep our common goal in mind, our children. Without your support the programs we bring to the school would not be possible. Our first PTA meeting is on Monday, October 4 at 7:30 pm. We will have a special social meet and greet at 6:30 pm. We look forward to seeing all our current members and meeting new parents. With our ever changing educational system due to budget cuts, it is very important to take an active role in your child’s education and a great way to do that is to join the PTA!!!!
