Where does our money go?                        A Message from your PTA President

 September 2011

My name is Heather Commoreto and I am proud to say I am your PTA President.  But around the hallways my official name is either Cassee's mom or Vincent's mom.  She is in fourth and he is in first.  When I am at the school and I hear that it makes me very proud and I would not want it any other way.  They are only young for so long and thru the PTA I am able to help grow our school while meeting many other parents who want to go on this educational journey together with our children.

I would never say the PTA is the only way to be part of our children's education, but I would like to think of it is a very large vehicle that we as parents can use to do it together.  Someone just recently asked me, "What is the PTA?"  So I would like to give everyone my answer.  While yes we fundraise, we are a lot more.  Yes we make the cupcakes, but it is not just about the cupcakes anymore (even though I have to say we make really good cup cakes up here).  Many studies show we as parents are a great big piece of the educational puzzle.  When we are involved, grades raise and children take pride in their schools.  So if you are looking for a way to be part of your child's education while having fun, if you would like to meet other parents who want the best experience for their children, or if you want to learn how we can help make an impact in education please join us and become a member.  While volunteering is not mandatory with membership it is a great benefit.  Out first meeting is September 19th at 7:00 pm in the Media Center.  If you have any question please contact me or any member of the board.  Our contact info is on the home page.  You can also contact our Membership chair Laura Quirk at quirkski@warwick.net.
